THE CHALLENGE

THE CHALLENGE

In the next few decades, the shipping industry must overcome the challenge of decarbonizing marine transport. To support decarbonization efforts, flexible and scalable marine energy solutions are needed.

THE TARGET

The shipping industry has initiated productive measures to move towards achieving zero emissions as per the IMO 2050 target, which is a challenging task. Shipowners must start planning investments now, despite the uncertain future of emission reduction technology.

To meet the IMO 2030 and 2050 targets, it is necessary to select solutions that are both feasible and enduring.

THE SOLUTION

Our company provides a variety of services to help you achieve sustainable shipping practices, improve your CII rating, and decrease operational expenses.

PRODUCTS & SYSTEMS

Alternative fuels

There are various alternative fuel options being explored, including biofuels, hydrogen, and ammonia. These fuels produce lower emissions than traditional fossil fuels and can be used in existing engines with some modifications.

Wind propulsion

By using wind-assisted propulsion, such as sails or rotor sails, ships can reduce the amount of fuel they need to consume, thus reducing emissions. Some companies are working on developing hybrid systems that combine traditional engines with wind propulsion.

Energy efficiency

Improving the efficiency of ships can also reduce emissions. This can include measures such as optimizing routes and speeds, using anti-fouling paint to reduce drag, and using LED lighting.

Electric and hybrid engines

Electric engines can be used for short sea shipping, while hybrid engines that combine traditional engines with battery power can be used for longer routes. These engines produce lower emissions and can also help to reduce fuel consumption.

Carbon capture and storage

Some companies are also exploring the possibility of using carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies on ships, which would capture emissions and store them underground.
